Choose Wisely What Your Character Reflects

Matthew 5:44-45 (VOICE) …Pray for those who torment you and persecute you— in so doing, you become children of your Father in heaven…

Beloved, when someone wrongs you, you do not have to return it in kind. Instead of stooping to their negative behavior, respond with a heart that reflects Me. One filled with compassion and mercy. For any ill they’ve done or said against you is a greater reflection of them and their character than it is of yours.

Choose wisely what you want your character to reflect. If you want to reflect Me, respond to those who wrong you with forgiveness (even if they haven’t asked) and love (even if they don’t want it). For in reflecting godly behavior, you bless and honor Me, so let that be enough encouragement and resist the urge to rely on any human response.

Matthew 5:44-48 (VOICE) But I tell you this: love your enemies. Pray for those who torment you and persecute you— in so doing, you become children of your Father in heaven. He, after all, loves each of us—good and evil, kind and cruel. He causes the sun to rise and shine on evil and good alike. He causes the rain to water the fields of the righteous and the fields of the sinner. It is easy to love those who love you—even a tax collector can love those who love him. And it is easy to greet your friends—even outsiders do that! But you are called to something higher: “Be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

Reflect My Eyes of Mercy

Exodus 33:19 (VOICE) Eternal One: I will cause all My goodness to pass before you, and I will declare My name, the Eternal One, before you. I will show mercy to whomever I choose to show mercy, and I will demonstrate compassion on whomever I choose to have compassion.

Beloved, reflect My eyes of compassion. For I AM El Rachum – God of Mercy, the God of Compassion, so be like Me. For I show compassion in moments I deem fit that others might find too generous. I AM slow to anger and rich in mercy, so again, be like Me. Reflect My eyes of mercy.

Extending compassion to one in need is a gift. And it’s a gift you have undoubtedly needed yourself on occasion, so would you withhold it from someone else? Would you stand in judgment? Do you not know your judgement is flawed? Only I judge rightly. So, beloved, be like Me, and reflect My compassion.

Simply Reflect Me

James 3:17 (NLT) But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

Beloved, the fruit of true wisdom is sweet. It is easily recognizable, and tastes of Me. It is pure and cultivates harmony. It builds up and encourages that which is good. It is founded in truth and My Word. It isn’t self-seeking or unkind. It’s merciful, and encourages goodness.

Those who walk in this wisdom, seek to understand. They listen well – to men and to Me. They embrace that which is right, and inspire righteousness and mercy. They refuse to walk in judgment, but rather from a heart of love they seek to bring all into alignment with Me. They are genuine, and walk in sincerity. Their ultimate goal is to simply reflect Me. Demonstrate Godly Wisdom

James 3:13 (NLT) If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

Beloved, lead by example, but do so as one who knows My ways that you may not lead others astray. Walk in righteousness – fully aligned with My Word. Do good and love well. Be a person of humility, and one who walks in honor.

See with My eyes and be lead by My Spirit. Be kind and long suffering. May you extend patience beyond even that which you’d hope to receive. Let all this fruit demonstrate your godly wisdom to choose to walk with Me. Continue reading “Demonstrate Godly Wisdom”

Known by Love

1 John 4:8 (VOICE) Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Beloved, I AM love. So if you truly know Me and reflect Me, you too will love – unreserved and without exception. You know those who know Me by the fruit that they bear. Those who do not walk in love do not truly know Me. So walk in love because you do.

Those who have been given much are able to be generous. Be generous with love. Resist the urge to withhold it because someone has acted in an unloving way – that speaks to their character, but your response speaks to yours.

Those who truly know Me, have felt the fullness of My love and know how limitless it is. They receive, and then like a vessel filled to overflowing they pour out that love to others from their abundant supply. So love and love well – refusing to withhold – knowing that you too will be recognized by your love.

Build a Lasting Legacy

Matthew 6:20 (TPT) Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures  for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value.

Beloved, leave a legacy – a legacy of love. Reflect My love that all those you come in contact with might know Me. Love well and without restraint that they might know My love. Focus on consistently staying in a place of love. Refuse to allow anything to hinder your ability to pour it out, for it is desperately-needed hope to many you will meet. You may never know the impact your love has.

So focus on being filled with My love that you might be an overflowing vessel – able to pour out to those around you in abundance. In that way, beloved, you will leave a rich legacy – one that cannot rot or be stolen. So love and love well. Build a lasting legacy. Continue reading “Build a Lasting Legacy”

Cultivate That Which Endures

Matthew 6:19 (TPT) Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value.

Beloved, resist the temptation to waste your time and resources on things that will fade away. Though in your earthly circumstance, things in the natural may feel solid and strong – they may seem to have permanence, remember that they do not.

Worldly possessions are temporal. Even if they aren’t stolen and don’t fade or break during your time with them on earth, they cannot follow you on to heaven. So cultivate that which endures, and keep your eyes fixed on My Kingdom. Continue reading “Cultivate That Which Endures”

Cultivate Your Heavenly Rewards

Hebrews 10:34 (TPT) You sympathized with those in prison and when all your belongings were confiscated you accepted that violation with joy; convinced that you possess a treasure growing in heaven that could never be taken from you.

Beloved, have mercy. Extend grace and compassion in every circumstance. For you never know when things will shift, and you yourself will be in need of mercy, grace, and compassion. Therefore, sow liberally from a heart full of generous humility and love.

Keep your heart fixed on the things of heaven. For your treasures in heaven cannot be stolen by human hands, destroyed by natural disaster, or negated by human interference. So love well. Bear much fruit. Sow kindness without restraint. Cultivate your heavenly rewards, for they are the ones which will last.

Cultivate Good Fruit

1 Corinthians 13:1 (TPT) If I were to speak with eloquence in earth’s many languages, and in the heavenly tongues of angels, yet I didn’t express myself with love, my words would be reduced to the hollow sound of nothing more than a clanging cymbal.

Beloved, to reflect My voice you must also reflect My character. One cannot speak of humility and have that word be well-received if one is steeped in pride. So be mindful to cultivate the fruit of My Spirit.

It is more important that you accurately reflect My character than that you repeat My words. When the fruit of your character is sour, your words will taste sour too. So cultivate good fruit and flow from that place.

The Gift of Love

John 15:13 (KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Beloved, love as I have loved – withholding nothing, without condition or exception. For this type of love changes things, it breaks through the strongest of fortresses, it permeates through the most steadfast defenses.

Even knowing that to be true, don’t love needing or expecting a response, love for the sake of Love. Love because giving the gift of love is its own reward. Love because to do so makes you more like Me. Continue reading “The Gift of Love”
