Humble Strength

James 3:7-8 (CSB) Every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and fish is tamed and has been tamed by humankind, but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Beloved, without My help, taming your tongue would be an arduous and ultimately unsuccessful task. But with Me all things are possible. Surrender your voice to Me. Ask Me to fill your mouth. For I AM fully able to strengthen you to walk in humility.

When you care more for Me than the thoughts and opinions of man, holding your tongue simply becomes a gift and an offering to Me, and I find it most pleasing. So walk in that humble strength, for it is beautiful.

James 3:2-10 (NIV) We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Tame Your Tongue

James 3:3-4 (CSB) Now if we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we direct their whole bodies. And consider ships: Though very large and driven by fierce winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.

Beloved, though your tongue may seem like a small muscle, it can wield more damage than the fiercest blow another could deliver. Tame it, for you are responsible for every word that departs from it. Just as those who have intentionally or thoughtlessly injured you, so you have done to others. So extend forgiveness even as you yourself need it.

Resist the urge to minimize the potential hurt your words may inflict. Remember that echoes of painful words may repeat and continue their damage for decades to come. So be slow to speak, weighing each word – seeking insight from My Spirit. Let Holy Spirit lead you rightly, and help guard your tongue that you might be known as a fountain of life.

James 3:2-10 (NLT) Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

Withhold Nothing

Hebrews 11:17 (VOICE) By faith Abraham, when he endured God’s testing, offered his beloved son Isaac as a sacrifice. The one who had received God’s promise was willing to offer his only son;

Beloved, withhold nothing from Me. Remember all you have is from My hand. So refuse to be like a dog growling at its  master’s outstretched hand as it enjoys a bone that was gifted from that very same hand. Trust all to Me. Resist the urge to guard or withhold from Me that which you hold dear.

If I instruct you in My Word not to frustrate your children, do you think I will turn around and do the opposite of what I instruct? Trust Me. I give and I take away, but I AM always working for good. Simply because I remove something doesn’t mean you’re “in trouble.” Trust that I AM working for your good.

So be passionate in your faith of Me. Withhold nothing. Demonstrate by your actions the level of belief you have in who I AM and the nature of My character. Let your unreserved faith declare Me worthy to all.

Ephesians 6:4 (NIV) Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Job 1:21 (ESV) And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”

Function in My Flow

Psalm 138:3 (VOICE) On the day I needed You, I called, and You responded and infused my soul with strength.

Beloved, close your eyes and feel the breath of My Spirit across your face. My life, which brings liberty, invigorating you and bringing refreshing. Breathe it in, beloved. Receive – by faith receive.

Just as you need air to sustain your very life, My Spirit is necessary for you to live and move and have your being. Refuse to function outside of My flow. Resist the urge to struggle against Me. Beloved, this is the essence of faith. Yield, and flow in My Spirit of life.

Trust Implicitly

Psalm 138:7 (VOICE) Whenever I walk into trouble, You are there to bring me out. You hold out Your hand to protect me against the wrath of my enemies, and hold me safely in Your right hand.

Beloved, as you follow the road of life, trust that I know what is behind each bend and beyond each corner. For I know the beginning from the end, and the whole of the journey in between. So trust Me to lead.

Just as you trust implicitly in a map or GPS if you are traveling in an unknown area, so you should have that same unreserved faith in Me. Have enough faith to rely even when you do not know or understand where you are headed. Trust that I will not lead you astray.

And rather than spend the journey fretting about what is to come, focus on enjoying the ride. Relax as you allow Me to lead, and remember to enjoy the sights and sounds along the way.

My Ambassador

Jeremiah 1:9 (VOICE) Then the Eternal reached out and touched my mouth, and He gave me His divine message. Eternal One: Look, I have placed My words in you. You will know what to say now, for you will be My voice.

Beloved, I have placed My words in your mouth that you might speak them at My prompting. Your mission is to release them at My leading. No more. No less. You are not responsible for what people do with what you share, nor is the value of your words increased or decreased by whether or not they are received. Simply obey.

For as you offer yourself as a yielded vessel, I will be faithful to pour through you. My words ever on your lips as you give glory and honor to Me. You, beloved, are My anointed. Speak with confidence as My ambassador, for you operate under My authority.

Surrender to My Care

Psalm 3:3 (VOICE) But You, Eternal One, wrap around me like an impenetrable shield. You give me glory and lift my eyes up to the heavens.

Beloved, feel My arms around you. I hold you tight in My embrace. Allow My love to shield you – allow Me to keep you safe. Feel My love saturate you as it softens you and prepares you to withstand the blows that life will bring. Safe you are, and safe you’ll stay, enveloped in My care.

Be glorified and changed as you rest tight within My arms. From heaven above to the earth below, nothing can rock you, or move you from My touch. Yield to Me completely and surrender to My care. My love will always shield you, and you will find your safety there.

Emissaries of Heaven

Mark 16:20 (VOICE) The disciples went out proclaiming the good news; and the risen Lord continued working through them, confirming every word they spoke with the signs He performed through them.]

Beloved, expect manifestations of My power. For what is the point of praying for the miraculous if you aren’t fully persuaded that the One you beseech is more than able to do “abundantly above all you could ask or think”? Choose to know Me, and choose to believe.

Walk in the full authority and power of the One who has sent you: Me. You are the emissaries of heaven. Yielded and willing vessels – created to usher the supernatural into the natural realm because you know who I AM and you believe. So stand and speak in faith, and watch Me move.

Created with a Purpose

Matthew 5:13 (AMP) You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste (purpose), how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and walked on by people [when the walkways are wet and slippery].

Beloved, you have been created with a purpose for a call. Simply being you – all I’ve created you to be – and yielding to the plans I have for you (which are good plans) demonstrates who I AM. You are created in My image, and created to bear fruit.

What then is the purpose of an apple tree that bears no fruit? It is purposeless, and though secondary (and lesser) use may be found for it, it is not fulfilling its call. In the same way, refuse to settle for anything less than the fullness of all I’ve created you for. Trust Me to lead, yield to My direction, and bear fruit.

Yielded Vessel

Matthew 26:41 (AMP) Keep actively watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Beloved, refuse to allow weakness, distraction, or apathy to keep you from responding to My Spirit’s direction. Knowing that you are susceptible to distraction, be all the more alert for My gentle direction.

Regardless of the weakness of your flesh, those whose hearts are fixed on Me have willing spirits; therefore, you are more than able to stay ready to respond to My leading. So move past your acknowledgment of weakness, and rather focus on the strength that comes from Me. Then yield, and allow Me to move mightily through My yielded vessel.
